Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two residential fires since last evening.
Westgrove Way Fire
At 4:34 a.m. on August 4, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, five-unit townhouse complex in the 0-100 block of Westgrove Way.
When crews arrived on scene they found heave smoke coming from one of the units. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:38 a.m.
All occupants of the complex, along with their pets, self-evacuated. No injuries were reported.
The City’s Emergency Social Services team was dispatched to the scene to assist 12 residents in finding alternative accommodations until the building is safe for re-entry.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Houde Drive Fire
At 8:02 p.m. on August 3, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey duplex in the 100 block of Houde Drive.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 8:27 p.m.
Occupants of the residence safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
