Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Responds to Three Overnight Fires

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:15 p.m. on September 20, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey house in the 400 block of William Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered flames and heavy smoke. Crews launched an offensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 9:53 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time. This house had extensive damage from a previous fire in August 2019.

At 3:36 a.m. on September 21, 2019, WFPS responded to a fire at an industrial property in the 0-100 block of Point Douglas Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered two semi-trailers engulfed in significant flames. Crews launched an offensive attack, first extinguishing the fire in the trailers and then attacking the fire which had extended into the adjacent building. The fire was declared under control at 4:46 a.m.

There were no evacuations required and no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

At 3:55 a.m. on September 21, 2019, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in the 200 block of Bowman Avenue. Upon arrival, crews encountered a fire engulfing two garages. Crews launched an offensive attack and declared the fire under control at 4:16 a.m.

There were no evacuations required and no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
