Next taxi lottery will exclusively award licences for accessible vehicles-for-hire

Applications open now until July 20, 2018, lottery to be drawn on July 25

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg has opened its next round of taxi lottery applications, which will be open exclusively to applicants who intend to operate an accessible vehicle-for-hire.

Applications are now being accepted by the Winnipeg Parking Authority until 4:30 p.m. July 20, 2018. There are up to 60 available licences that will be awarded at a lottery event on July 25 at the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre.

The City has decided to award accessible licences only for this taxi licence lottery in order to increase the availability of accessible vehicles-for-hire in Winnipeg.

Once the first 60 applicants have been drawn and awarded the accessible taxi licences, the other lottery applicants will be drawn to form a waitlist to be used should any of the first 60 applicants not fulfill the requirements by September 7, 2018.

The lottery event details are as follows:
Date: Wednesday, July 25, 2018
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Fort Rouge Leisure Centre, 625 Osborne Street

Applications must be submitted in-person to the Winnipeg Parking Authority, located at 495 Portage Avenue. For more information on applying or to fill out and print the taxi licence application form, please visit City of Winnipeg – Taxi Licence Lottery.

Those who have entered the taxi licence lottery are welcome to attend the draw event. Attendance is not required to be selected in the lottery. The list of all applicants will be posted on the City’s website after the lottery process has concluded. The Winnipeg Parking Authority will contact successful applicants and provide them with the information necessary to complete the licensing process.
