Background
Winnipeg Transit’s main maintenance facility is the Fort Rouge Garage, located at 421 Osborne St. Approximately 95 per cent of Winnipeg Transit bus maintenance occurs at this location. The Fort Rouge Garage is nearly 50 years old and many of the building systems have reached the end of their life. To meet the current and future needs of Winnipeg’s bus fleet, Winnipeg Transit is expanding the Fort Rouge Garage maintenance facility. The Winnipeg Transit Bus Maintenance Garage Expansion Project will:

  • Meet the current and future maintenance space needs of a growing bus fleet.
  • Meet the current and future technology demands of an evolving bus fleet.
  • Improve Winnipeg Transit reliability by reducing maintenance wait times and the number of buses out-of-service.
  • Achieve at least LEED® Silver certification through the Canada Green Building Council.
