Homelessness Partnering Strategy call for applications now open

Released: July 25, 2017 at 9:15 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB - The call for proposals for the Homelessness Partnering Strategy is now open.

The Government of Canada provides funding for projects that support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through the Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS). Since 2012, the City of Winnipeg has delivered HPS federal funding to local community organizations whose valuable work assists and supports individuals and families in Winnipeg experiencing homelessness.

The 2014-2019 HPS will invest a total of $35 million in Winnipeg organizations to support local homelessness programming, assist in the development or expansion of support services, and fund capital investments where those who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness are served.

The City’s Community Advisory Board (CAB) is responsible for setting the direction to address homelessness in Winnipeg, and administering the HPS funding. The CAB identifies local priorities through a planning process, determines which projects should be implemented to address those priorities, and reports back to the larger community on the efforts made and results achieved in preventing and reducing homelessness. This current call for proposals (CFP) focuses on the following three priorities:

  • Improving the self-sufficiency of homeless individuals and families, and those at imminent risk of homelessness through individualized services;
  • Improving or increasing the capacity of facilities used to address the needs of people who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness; and,
  • Ensuring the coordination of resources and leveraging amongst local organizations.

Information sessions for organizations interested in applying for HPS funding will take place in July and August 2017. Attendees will be able to review the application and evaluation process, and ask questions:
