New basketball court, three new pickleball courts and resurfaced tennis courts sure to be a slam dunk for park users

Winnipeg, MB - Over the last year, improvements have been made to the courts at La Fleche Park located at 17 Sinnott Street in Charleswood including a new basketball court, three new pickleball courts and resurfaced tennis courts for park users to enjoy.

“The Charleswood community is sure to love the new amenities at La Fleche Park,” said Charleswood Tuxedo Whyte Ridge Councillor Marty Morantz. “I’m pleased we were able to redevelop this space into a useable, attractive and fun place that will help people of all ages to get active.”

The project, including a new park bench and fencing, entailed resurfacing two tennis courts and repurposing the remainder of the area into a new basketball court and three pickleball courts. The courts have a new granular base, plexipave acrylic sport surface and line markings. Completing the project are new pickleball stanchions and nets, and new basketball standards. The La Fleche Park courts are now a multi-use site with tennis, pickleball and basketball providing park users with more options for recreational activities.

The cost for this project was $160,000 funded from the 2016 parks and recreation enhancement program capital program.
