Nomination Period for School Trustee - April 30 to May 6, 2016

Winnipeg, MB - A School Trustee By-Election for the School Divisions of River East Transcona (Ward 3), St. James-Assiniboia (King Edward-Deer Lodge Ward) and Louis Riel (Ward 2) will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

The Senior Election Official will be accepting Nomination Papers for the office of School Trustee in the School Divisions of River East Transcona (Ward 3), St. James-Assiniboia (King Edward-Deer Lodge Ward) and Louis Riel (Ward 2) commencing Saturday, April 30, 2016, ending at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6th, 2016, at the City Clerk's Department, Administration Building, 510 Main Street, Winnipeg, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The deadline to file is 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 6th, 2016.

Persons eligible to be a candidate for School Trustee must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a Canadian Citizen;
  • Be 18 years old or older on By-Election Day, June 11, 2016;
  • Be a resident in the School Division since December 11, 2015; and
  • Not be disqualified by law.

NOMINATION PAPERS

Commencing April 23, 2016 individuals seeking election may obtain Nomination Papers from the City Clerk's Department, Main Floor, Administration Building, 510 Main Street, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, from their respective School Division office, or by accessing the forms on the City of Winnipeg website.

Nomination Papers must be filed in-person, on the prescribed form and must have a minimum of 25 signatures from voters who live in the ward in which they are seeking election and whose names appear on the Voters List.

Deadline for Withdrawal

Candidates may withdraw their nomination, in writing, until 4:30 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2016.
