Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Furby Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:36 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 400 block of Furby Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 4:59 a.m. The building suffered fire, smoke, and water damage.

New requirements for designated medical cannabis growers

Designated cannabis production facilities no longer permitted in residential areas under new licensing program

Winnipeg, MB – Designated medical cannabis growers in Winnipeg will require a Designated Growers Licence as of Tuesday, September 6, 2022, as changes to the City of Winnipeg’s Community Safety Business Licensing By-law come into effect.

Earlier this year, City Council approved changes to several bylaws that restrict growing cannabis in residential neighbourhoods.

City of Winnipeg’s Fall 2022 Leisure Guide registration to commence today at noon

Winnipeg, MB – Earlier this morning, registration was set to open for Fall 2022 Leisure Guide registration. Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen technical issue with our third-party vendor affecting clients throughout Canada, many users were not able to access the online registration system. It was incredibly unfortunate timing, as it coincided with the opening of Leisure Guide registration, and was out of our control. As such, we had to temporarily suspend registration.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:31 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey multi-family residence in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 6:34 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:29 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant residential and commercial combined-use structure in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered light smoke coming from the building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 12:48 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

New spray pad coming to Bronx Park Community Centre

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg announced today a project that will bring new recreational amenities to the communities of Elmwood and North Kildonan. A new project at Bronx Park Community Centre (720 Henderson Hwy.) will include the addition of a new accessible spray pad and other park improvements.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Pritchard Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:32 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 1:04 p.m.
