Council to begin temporary move to Administration Building to accommodate Council Building redevelopment

Winnipeg, MB. -â�Tomorrow, City Councillors will begin their temporary move to the Administration Building located at 510 Main Street to accommodate the redevelopment of the Council Building. The Administration Building is located directly across the Courtyard from the Council Building.

This long overdue redevelopment work is required to maintain the City Council Building and bring it up to current safety system and Code requirements.

Some of the City's unsupervised spray pads are opening early so residents can enjoy the beautiful weather this long weekend. Beginning Saturday, May 21, the following spray pads will operate daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. until Monday, September 5:

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service celebrates Paramedic Service Week

Winnipeg, MB - Paramedics Service Week 2016 is being held across Canada from May 22 to May 29. The week-long awareness week will help inform citizens about the variety of paramedical services provided by the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS). To celebrate the week, the department’s paramedics will participate in a variety of community and educational activities.

The WFPS currently has 707 licensed paramedics on staff who provide citizens with emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Susan Auch Oval to close temporarily for construction of the Sargent Park Beach Volleyball Courts for the 2017 Canada Games

Winnipeg, MB - The Susan Auch Oval situated between Sargent Park Arena and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex located at 999 Sargent Avenue will be closed to the public from May 24 until the end of July for the construction of the Sargent Park Beach Volleyball Courts for the 2017 Canada Games.

Access to the gravel track will not be available to the public until the end of July when construction is expected to be completed.

Assiniboine river walk to open for the May long weekend

Winnipeg, MB - Starting this Saturday, May 21, the Assiniboine river walk from the Osborne Bridge to the Main Street Bridge will be open to the public just in time for the May long weekend.

City crews have reinstalled the lighting and are putting the finishing touches along the pathway for Winnipeggers to start enjoying this weekend.
