Winnipeg Public Library seeks next Writer-in-Residence

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg Public Library hosts many literary and learning programs to enhance the cultural vitality of the city. One of the longest-running services is the Writer-in-Residence program. Since 1985, award-winning authors have provided one-on-one mentorship and public workshops to hundreds of emerging writers of all genres.

Are you an established, professionally published author with experience in editing or teaching writing? Are you ready to mentor others? Be the next Writer-in-Residence of Winnipeg Public Library!

During their term, each Writer-in-Residence works with dozens of emerging Manitoba writers by email and phone, as well as through in-person consultations and workshops. The Writer-in-Residence also hosts public workshops and programs in Winnipeg to share their special expertise in any genre from songwriting to memoirs to classical poetic forms. The residency also includes time to work on a personal writing project.

The Writer-in-Residence term runs October 1, 2016 until April 30, 2017. Deadline for applications is Monday, June 13, 2016.

The Writer-in-Residence position is funded by Winnipeg Public Library, the Winnipeg Public Library Board, the Friends of the Winnipeg Public Library, the Manitoba Writers’ Guild, and Manitoba Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport.
