Public invited to open house on North St. Boniface Secondary Plan and Boulevard Provencher Planned Development Overlay

Winnipeg, MB - The public is invited to an open house on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 regarding the North St. Boniface Secondary Plan and Boulevard Provencher Planned Development Overlay (PDO) Review.

The North St. Boniface Secondary Plan is a vision to guide future growth and change in the area while applying principles from OurWinnipeg, the City’s long range development plan. The Plan also outlines the City's commitments and priorities over next 20 years for land use, transportation, services, and parks and open space in the area.

City announces winner of 1919 Winnipeg General Strike Design Competition

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is pleased to announce Monteyne Architecture Works as the winner of the design competition to commemorate the labour movement that resulted in the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike.

“The caliber of submissions in the design competition was inspiring,” said John Kiernan, Director of Planning, Property and Development. “We extend heartfelt congratulations to Monteyne Architecture Works on their winning design, and are pleased to acknowledge finalists H5 Architecture and Unit 7 Architecture for their innovative proposals.”

More Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service paramedics to access advanced heart attack therapy

Winnipeg, MB - After introducing advanced heart attack therapy in 2008, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) has recently completed STEMI (ST segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction) training with all Primary Care Paramedics (PCP). This enhanced training means that all WFPS PCP’s can now activate the STEMI protocol and provide more timely treatment for patients suffering from the most severe types of heart attacks.

The City of Winnipeg has gone through a period of growth that has impacted the City’s operating and capital costs and revenues. As such, the City is looking to determine the relationship between growth-related costs and revenues.

North Winnipeg Antenna System Project Public Information Session

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to an information session about the North Winnipeg Antenna System Project.

The City of Winnipeg must remove an existing antenna system, used by a number of City departments, located at the North End Water Pollution Control Centre (2230 Main Street), before the end of the year to accommodate the future expansion of the North End Water Pollution Control Centre scheduled to begin in 2017.

Winnipeg, MB - Find fun in the sun this summer at Winnipeg's spray pads, outdoor pools and wading pools.

“I’m very excited that more Winnipeg spray pads will be operational this weekend,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “It’s a great way to spend a hot summer day with the kids, and we are fortunate to have so many terrific options for pools and spray pads in our city. I hope Winnipeggers will take advantage of our great facilities over the coming summer months.”

Provencher Bridge to be completely closed for maintenance on May 28 and 29

Winnipeg, MB - Eastbound and westbound directions of the Provencher Bridge will be completely closed to traffic starting at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28 and reopening at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29. The lane closure is for maintenance of expansion joint seals.

Pedestrian access to the north sidewalk will be maintained on Saturday, May 28. The Esplanade Riel will remain open.

Motorists should use alternate routes such as the Louise Bridge or Norwood Bridge while maintenance is underway.
