Winnipeg, MB - All civic offices are closed on Terry Fox Day, Monday, August 1, 2016.

Recycling/Garbage Collection

Recycling, garbage and yard waste will be collected as normally scheduled on the Terry Fox day holiday for those with Monday as their collection day.

Road closures in effect on Moray Street on July 23 and 24

Winnipeg, MB - Northbound and southbound Moray Street from Bruce Avenue to Ness Avenue and northbound Moray Street from Ness Avenue to Strauss Drive will be closed to traffic from 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24 for an asphalt paving project. Southbound Moray Street from Ness Avenue to Strauss Drive will remain open so that southbound motorists can turn right and head west onto Ness Avenue.

Southbound Memorial Boulevard from York Ave to Broadway closed July 22 - 24

Winnipeg, MB - Southbound Memorial Boulevard from York Avenue to Broadway will be completely closed to all traffic from 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24 for a Folklorama event.

Community Homeless Assistance Team Bolstered by Mayor Brian Bowman

Winnipeg, MB - Today, Mayor Brian Bowman commended the success of the Community Homeless Assistance Team (CHAT) and confirmed the City of Winnipeg's commitment of $150,000 to support additional outreach workers.

“I’m proud we have been able to invest in the great work the Community Homeless Assistance Team has accomplished on our city streets,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “The CHAT program’s proactive approach has been making a positive difference by helping to put individuals on track for success.”

City of Winnipeg invites citizens to come in and cool off during extreme heat

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg invites citizens to come in and cool off in civic facilities during regular operating hours, as extreme temperatures are forecasted over the next few days.

City facilities that are normally open on weekdays and weekends are available to act as 'cooling areas' where the public may come in for relief from the heat, read a book or magazine, and have access to drinking water.

City pools and spray pads are also great ways to cool down.

Mayor Brian Bowman Announces Recipients of Mayor's Scholarship for Community Leadership

Winnipeg, MB - At an announcement at City Hall today, Mayor Brian Bowman awarded the five recipients of the inaugural Mayor’s Scholarship for Community Leadership. The five winners will receive a one thousand dollar scholarship in recognition of their consistent and outstanding dedication to solving a community problem or making their community a better place to live.

Temporary road closure on Graham Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Graham Avenue from Main Street to Fort Street will be closed to all vehicles except Transit buses from Sunday, July 17 at 7:00 a.m. to Wednesday, July 20 at 7:00 a.m. to accommodate construction work at the 300 Main Street South Tower.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on the south side of Graham Avenue while construction is underway.

Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time or to use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Pan Am Pool temporarily closed beginning July 25

Winnipeg, MB - The Pan Am Pool will be closed to the public for facility upgrades beginning on Monday, July 25. Upgrades are expected to be complete in late September.

In anticipation of the upcoming 2017 Canada Summer Games, the original 50-year-old bulkhead will be replaced with a new dual bulkhead system. Interior renovations include an improved lounge space in the public area at the front entrance and upgrades to the parking lot nearest the building.
