Winnipeg, MB - The curbside yard waste collection season is coming to an end.

  • Yard waste collection in “area A” will end the week of Friday, November 18, 2016
  • Yard waste collection in “area B” will end the week of Friday, November 25, 2016

Winnipeg, MB - All civic offices are closed on Friday, November 11, 2016.

Recycling/Garbage Collection

For all customers with City collection service (single-family homes, multi-family residential buildings, businesses) - there is no recycling, garbage or yard waste collection on Remembrance Day, Friday, November 11, 2016.

The following schedule changes are in effect for the week of November 7, 2016, for those customers that normally have collection on Friday.

Change your clock, change your smoke alarm batteries

Winnipeg, MB - On Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2:00 a.m., the clocks will "fall back" one hour marking the end of daylight savings time. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is encouraging citizens to take a moment to replace the batteries and test their smoke alarms when adjusting their clocks for this weekend's time change.

According to recent statistics, people are four times more likely to die in a fire if their smoke alarms aren’t working.

Executive Policy Committee & Other Mayoral Appointees Receive Mandate Letters

Winnipeg, MB - Mandate letters for Executive Policy Committee (EPC) members and other Mayoral appointees have been provided to the incoming Councillors and are being made publicly available, Mayor Brian Bowman announced today.

Mandate letters provide direction on key responsibilities and outline expectations of those serving as Chairperson for each of Council’s six standing policy committees, as well as for those serving as Deputy Mayor, Acting Deputy Mayor, and as the Chairperson for the Winnipeg Police Board.

City enters into Due Diligence Agreement for 266 Graham Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - The Public Service is recommending the City enter into a Due Diligence Agreement for 266 Graham Avenue following an Expression of Interest (EOI) process in which Shelter Canadian Properties Limited was identified as the successful proponent.

Railway crossing closure on Plessis Road between Gunn Road and Grassie Boulevard

Winnipeg, MB - Plessis Road between Gunn Road and Grassie Boulevard will be completely closed to northbound and southbound traffic starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 for a CP railway crossing repair. Plessis Road will reopen at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, and to allow additional travel time to reach their destinations.

Temporary closure of Hargrave Street between St. Mary's Avenue and Graham Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Hargrave Street from St. Mary's Avenue to Graham Avenue will be closed to all vehicular traffic starting this Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 6:30 a.m. until Sunday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m. to accommodate a gas service installation.

Please note that on Saturday, November 5 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Hargrave Street will be temporarily reopened to allow vehicular traffic to access the MTS Centre and CityPlace Parkade for the Manitoba Moose hockey game.

Reminder: Tomorrow is By-Election Day

Winnipeg, MB - Tomorrow is By-Election Day for School Trustee in the Winnipeg School Division (Ward 7). Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Voters Notices have been mailed to all eligible voters identifying the most convenient voting location, as well as other voting locations. Eligible voters who did not receive a Voters Notice can vote at any identified voting place and take an Oath prior to voting. All voters are required to present identification.

Winnipeg, MB - The 2016 School Trustee By-Election for the Winnipeg School Division (Ward 7) will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Eligible voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot for one candidate for the Office of School Trustee.

The City of Winnipeg requires all eligible voters to provide identification at the voting place.
