2017 Preliminary Budgets are Balanced, Build Winnipeg for the Future

Winnipeg, MB - The 2017 preliminary operating and capital budgets tabled at a special Executive Policy Committee meeting are balanced, limit expenditure increases to the lowest level in ten years, and continue to build Winnipeg for the future without relying on any rate increases to frontage levies, the water and sewer dividend, or vacancy management estimates, Mayor Brian Bowman announced today.

City crews prepared to deal with forecasted snowfall

Winnipeg, MB - City crews are ‘ready-to-serve’ and prepared to deal with snow that is in the forecast for Winnipeg tonight. Crews are monitoring road conditions and have sanding and salting operations in a ready to deploy status. Accumulations of snow will be monitored and further decisions will be made as the weather system passes through the City.

Any required sanding and plowing efforts will initially focus on main routes, bus routes and collector streets. There are no winter parking bans currently in effect.

Public invited to an information session on Happyland Park Playground Upgrade

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to attend a public information session on the playground upgrade at Happyland Park.

The Happyland Park play structure was built over 20 years ago and is in need of replacement. The City of Winnipeg is currently exploring upgrading the play structure and would like your input on that initiative as well as your ideas about the rest of the park.

Animal Services hosts pet photos with Santa

Winnipeg, MB - Give your pet a chance to share their Christmas wishes with Santa! Santa will be at Animal Services for seasonal pet photos on Saturday, November 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Families without dogs are also welcome to attend and can "borrow" an adoptable dog for the photo. Photos with Santa are $10 and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

2017 Budget Schedule Announced

Winnipeg, MB - The preliminary 2017 Operating and Capital budgets will be tabled at a special meeting of Executive Policy Committee on November 22, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.

Santa Claus set to arrive in Winnipeg this weekend!
