Winnipeg, MB - At today's annual Business Improvement Zones Awards ceremony Mayor Brian Bowman recognized 16 Winnipeg individuals and organizations that have made contributions to enhance their local Business Improvement Zones (BIZ).

Residents reminded of upcoming Spring Curbside Giveaway Weekend

Winnipeg, MB - Residents are reminded that this weekend, May 13 and 14, 2017, is the first giveaway weekend of this year. This is a great opportunity to find a new owner for those reusable, unwanted items taking up space in your home or to browse the curbs for some great finds.

York Avenue between Edmonton Street and Carlton Street will be temporarily closed to traffic this weekend

Winnipeg, MB - York Avenue between Edmonton Street and Carlton Street will be temporarily closed to traffic starting on Saturday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. until noon on Sunday, May 14 for light fixture replacement at the RBC Convention Center.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on the north sidewalk while work is underway. Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.

Mayor Bowman presents Evelyn Hart with Key to the City

Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Brian Bowman presented Ms. Evelyn Hart with the Key to the City of Winnipeg today recognizing her achievements as an award-winning ballerina, an internationally renowned dancer, and one of Canada's most treasured artists.

Ms. Hart joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) in 1976, becoming a soloist in 1978, and principal dancer in 1979. Over her 30-year career with the RWB, she performed on stages in over 118 countries and on every continent.

Living Prairie Museum to host prairie plant sales in May and June

Winnipeg, MB - Visit the Living Prairie Museum interpretive centre located at 2795 Ness Avenue for their annual native plant sales featuring Prairie Flora!

Elmhurst Road between Wilkes Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue temporarily closed for railway crossing repair

Winnipeg, MB - Elmhurst Road between Wilkes Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue will be completely closed to northbound and southbound traffic starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12 for a CN railway crossing repair. Elmhurst Road will reopen at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14.

Pedestrian sidewalk access will be maintained while work is underway.

Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations and use alternate routes.

Insect Control Update 2

Winnipeg, MB - Today, the City of Winnipeg announced the start of its forest tent caterpillar and elm bark beetle control programs, and provided an update on the spring mosquito larviciding program.

Marion Street between Archibald Street and Nicolas Avenue temporarily closed for railway crossing repair

Winnipeg, MB - Marion Street between Archibald Street and Nicolas Avenue will be completely closed to eastbound and westbound traffic starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12 for a CP railway crossing repair. Marion Street will reopen at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14.

Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes such as Fermor Avenue, Provencher Boulevard and Nairn Avenue.

City of Winnipeg invites Winnipeggers to participate in first annual Neighbour Day

Winnipeg, MB - Saturday, May 27 will mark Winnipeg’s first annual Neighbour Day!

On Neighbour Day, the City of Winnipeg and Mayor Brian Bowman are encouraging all Winnipeggers to get together with neighbours and friends as a way to get to know each other better and celebrate the strong community spirit that exists across all of Winnipeg’s diverse neighbourhoods.
