Temporary closure of Peguis Street for railway crossing and roadway improvements

Winnipeg – The public is advised that Peguis Street from Prairie Crocus Drive to south of Concordia Avenue East will be completely closed from Monday, September 25 to November 13 for major railway track work and widening of Peguis Street over the railway. The extension of the asphalt path along the west side of Peguis Street up to Concordia Avenue East will also occur during the closure.

Public invited to provide feedback on pedestrian and cycling study in the East Fort Garry neighbourhood

Winnipeg, MB – Do you walk or bike in the East Fort Garry community? The City wants to hear from you to help identify priorities for improvements to the pedestrian and cycling network to improve safety for people of all ages and abilities.

The goal of this study is to re-engage the East Fort Garry community to help improve the livability, safety and walkability of the neighbourhood and increase the number of students choosing active modes when travelling to school. This study will also develop school travel plans for schools in the area.

Southbound Princess Street temporarily closed from Elgin Avenue to William Avenue for film production

Winnipeg, MB – The public is advised that Princess Street from Elgin Avenue to William Avenue will be temporarily closed to southbound vehicular traffic starting at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 17 until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18 for film production.

Pedestrian sidewalk access will be maintained during filming, and trucks will be required to re-route via Logan Avenue. Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.

Northbound Tuxedo Avenue between Corydon Avenue and Edgeland Boulevard will be closed to traffic Sept 17

Winnipeg, MB – Northbound Tuxedo Avenue between Corydon Avenue and Edgeland Boulevard will be closed for crane work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 17.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, and motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.

Important riverbank stabilization project now complete on Lyndale Drive

Winnipeg, MB – An important riverbank stabilization project is now complete on Lyndale Drive which improves the reliability of the City's primary dike, protects the road and nearby utilities while at the same time enhances the riverbank area.

“This project will not only provide functional upgrades to the riverbank through stabilization, but it has also improved active transportation paths in the area,” said Minister of Municipal Relations Jeff Wharton. “Investing in infrastructure will continue to make our communities better places to live, work and play.”
