Winnipeg, MB – Northbound Hargrave Street between St. Mary Avenue and Portage Avenue will be closed daily from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting this Thursday, March 8 until Thursday, March 29 (weekdays only), to allow for construction of the pedestrian walkway over Hargrave for the True North Square project.

Access to parkades on Hargrave Street will be maintained.

Motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.

Winnipeg, MB – A Residential Parking Ban has been declared and will be in effect starting this evening at 7 p.m. as crews shift focus to improving the condition of residential streets. The Declared Snow Route Parking Ban that was put into effect at 12 a.m. Monday, March 5 has now been lifted.

Winnipeg, MB – After receiving and analyzing public input through a workshop and online survey, the East Fort Garry Walk Bike project team developed several proposed strategies for improving livability, safety and walkability in the neighbourhood and is inviting the public to an open house to learn more about the strategies and provide further feedback.

Winnipeg, MB – Crews continue to make progress on improving the condition of roads and sidewalks throughout the city following yesterday's snowstorm. Back lane plowing began this morning and spot sanding and salting are also underway to improve traction.

“City-wide snow clearing is progressing well with main routes mostly complete, and bus routes and collector streets expected be finished on Wednesday,” said Cheryl Anderson, acting manager of street maintenance. “Crews are continuing to work as quickly as possible to complete this major plowing operation.”

Winnipeg, MB – Crews are continuing the clean up from the snow storm passing through the city. Truck plows were deployed last night and will continue working throughout the day. A grader plowing operation will begin tonight and continue tomorrow focusing on main routes, bus routes and collector streets. A back lane plow will begin Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. Plowing of sidewalks and active transportation paths is also underway and will continue until complete.

Plowing Update

Winnipeg, MB - City crews, salting trucks and truck plows are ready to tackle the weather system forecasted for Winnipeg later this evening, overnight and tomorrow. To improve road conditions in current mild temperatures, a salting operation will start when the precipitation begins. As snow begins to accumulate on the roadway, it is anticipated that crews will ramp up to a major truck plowing operation on bridges, underpasses, main routes, bus routes and collector streets.

Winnipeg, MB - Watching and participating in ice sports and other events at the St. Vital Centennial Arena has become more comfortable over the past four years thanks to $400,000 in investments by the City of Winnipeg.

Winnipeg, MB – City crews are ready-to-serve and prepared to deal with the snow that is in the forecast for Winnipeg this weekend and next week. To facilitate snow clearing on major routes, a Declared Snow Route Parking Ban will be in effect starting Sunday night into Monday morning (begins at midnight on Monday, March 5).

The Declared Snow Route Parking Ban prohibits parking on snow routes between midnight and 7 a.m.

Motorists are urged to drive to winter conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near any plowing and sanding equipment.

Winnipeg, MB – In the February Outlook Report, issued on February 23, 2018, the Province of Manitoba advised that the risk of overland flooding is low for most southern Manitoba basins, including the Red and Assiniboine River basins. The Report also noted that ice jam related flooding could be a concern due to above normal ice thickness on many southern Manitoba rivers.
