Winnipeg, MB – Today, the North Centennial Recreation and Leisure Facility was officially renamed Sergeant Tommy Prince Place. Veterans, members of the Canadian Armed Forces and dignitaries joined family and community members in a ceremony to honour Sergeant Thomas George “Tommy” Prince, Canada’s most decorated Indigenous Veteran. A new building sign was also unveiled.

Winnipeg, MB – Today, the City of Winnipeg released its 2018 State of the Infrastructure Report, which provides detailed information about the City’s infrastructure as a whole, including the state of existing assets, the assignment of value to needed improvements on existing and future assets, and the remaining service life of current assets. This is the first time the City has been able to strategically categorize its assets and grade their physical conditions.

Winnipeg, MB – The eagerly anticipated new Windsor Park Library officially opened today at 1195 Archibald Street. The new 8,000 sq. ft. library is nestled among woodlands and features an open, accessible floor plan with meeting and study spaces, a family literacy playground and an outdoor reading area. The $4.9 million building is designed to LEED silver specifications and is energy efficient with glass walls providing ample light.

Winnipeg, MB – On Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 2:00 a.m., the clocks will "spring ahead" one hour marking the start of daylight savings time. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is encouraging citizens to take a moment to replace the batteries and test their smoke alarms when adjusting their clocks for this weekend's time change.

According to recent statistics, people are four times more likely to die in a fire if their smoke alarms aren’t working.

Tuesday, March 13 at 8 a.m. – Registration begins for swimming lessons only.

Wednesday, March 14 at 8 a.m. – Registration for all other activities begins and swimming lesson registration continues.

Winnipeg, MB – The City is inviting the public to share their input to help develop a preferred design for the widening of Route 90 between Taylor Avenue and Ness Avenue that will build on the recommendations of the 2012 Route 90 Transportation Planning Study (TPS). The route needs to be upgraded to address current and future traffic volumes, to accommodate new and future redevelopment, and to meet the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users.

Winnipeg, MB – The Residential Parking Ban remains in effect until Saturday morning. Plowing in zones D, F, H, K, N, R and U is currently underway. Plowing will take place on residential streets in snow zones E, G, J, L, P, Q, T starting at 7 p.m. this evening continuing until 7 a.m. Friday, March 9.
