Council Approves Appointment of New City Clerk

Winnipeg, MB - Mr. Marc Lemoine has been appointed the City of Winnipeg's new City Clerk following approval of his appointment at today's Council meeting Mayor Brian Bowman announced today.

“Mr. Lemoine has extensive knowledge and understanding of city processes and procedures,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “As Deputy Clerk for many years, he has demonstrated strong leadership and project management skills, and I look forward to his continued service with the City of Winnipeg in this new and challenging role.”

Windsor Park Library to close for move to new location

Winnipeg, MB - Windsor Park Library, 955 Cottonwood Road, will close permanently on Saturday, February 24 at 5:00 p.m. to allow for the move of collections and services to the library's new location. The new Windsor Park Library, located at 1195 Archibald Street, is expected to open in mid-March.

During the closure, holds will be sent to the Louis Riel Library at 1168 Dakota Street, unless customers have specified that their holds be sent to a different branch.

Second Winnipeg street census to take place April 18

Winnipeg, MB - Twenty-six community partners are working together to coordinate and complete Winnipeg's second street census on April 18, 2018. This large-scale, community-based research project will gather information about the extent and nature of homelessness in Winnipeg over a 24-hour period. The Winnipeg street census is funded by the Government of Canada Homelessness Partnering Strategy in the amount of $81,000, administered through the City of Winnipeg, as well as in-kind services from the City and various partner organizations.

Pan Am Pool capital construction project to begin summer 2018

Winnipeg, MB - The Pan Am Pool, Winnipeg’s premier aquatic facility, is set to receive a major capital investment beginning in summer 2018, as City officials work to replace the pool’s 51-year-old ceiling, lighting, and public address system. Replacement of these important interior components will cost approximately $2.6 million and will ensure that the Pan Am Pool remains a safe and enjoyable facility for many years to come.

Public invited to help shape Winnipeg’s Climate Action Plan

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting residents to a public workshop to help provide input on actions being proposed as part of Winnipeg’s Climate Action Plan: Planning for Climate Change. Acting for People. The purpose of this process is to develop strategies that will lead to a community-wide climate action plan to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Northbound and southbound Empress Street will be temporarily closed between Wellington Avenue and Sargent Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – Starting today at noon, northbound and southbound Empress Street between Wellington Avenue and Sargent Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic for building construction work.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and to plan for additional travel time to reach their destinations.

City holding North Winnipeg Antenna System Project Public Information Session

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting Winnipeggers to attend an information session about the North Winnipeg Antenna System Project.

The City must relocate an existing antenna system from its current location at the North End Pollution Water Control Centre (NEWPCC) at 2230 Main St. to accommodate for the centre’s future expansion.
