Winnipeg Public Library to recall employees to improve contactless pick-up service

Released: January 27, 2021 at 11:56 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – Due to the popularity of the Winnipeg Public Library’s contactless pick-up service, the City of Winnipeg is recalling 91 temporary, part-time employees who were laid off due to COVID-19 closures. The affected employees are anticipated to return to work beginning February 8, 2021. Currently, 10 libraries are open for contactless holds pick-up and return services only.

“We’ve seen such an incredible demand for holds and curbside pick-up,” said Ed Cuddy, Manager of Library Services. “We decided to recall several of our employees so that we can keep pace with volume of returns and requests and reduce the time it takes for us to process them.”
