Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Magnus Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:21 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 300 block of Magnus Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the house. Crews launched a defensive exterior attack, protecting surrounding homes from fire exposure until crews could safely switch to an interior offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 2:55 a.m.

Crews searched the building and no occupants were located. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Pritchard Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:54 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue.

When crews arrived, they launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 2:09 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Young Street and Ellice Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires on Saturday morning.

Young Street

At 9:12 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 300 block of Young Street.

When crews arrived on scene, heavy flames and smoke were coming from the house. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:47 a.m.

Crews searched the house to confirm there was no one inside. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Aberdeen Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:06 a.m. on June 11, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a house fire in a single-storey home in the 800 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 2:54 a.m.

Crews searched the home and confirmed there was no one inside. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are currently available.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Sargent Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:57 a.m. on June 10, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment block in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke and flames coming the structure. An offensive attack was initiated and the fire was declared under control at 6:14 a.m. The fire was contained to a single suite.

City begins piloting new parking guides

Winnipeggers invited to provide feedback on new, colour-coded timetables in Exchange District

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg’s first quarter financial status and forecast report is forecasting a projected deficit in the tax-supported operating budget (General Revenue Fund) of $12.7 million, as at March 31, 2021. The status report and forecast will be presented at the meeting of the Standing Policy Committee on Finance on June 11, 2021.

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two overnight fires.

Sargent Avenue Fire

At 10:47 p.m. on June 5, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment block in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was initiated and the fire was declared under control at 11:13 p.m. Crews then ventilated smoke from the building, allowing residents to return to their suites.
