Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Young Street and Ellice Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires on Saturday morning.

Young Street

At 9:12 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 300 block of Young Street.

When crews arrived on scene, heavy flames and smoke were coming from the house. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:47 a.m.

Crews searched the house to confirm there was no one inside. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.

Ellice Avenue

At 10:33 a.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey apartment building in the 700 block of Ellice Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 11:01 a.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported. All residents are able to return to their suites once crews complete their work on scene.

The cause of the fire is under control. No damage estimates are available.
