From swimming lessons to cooking classes, the Leisure Guide is your resource for activities in Winnipeg. Whether you are looking to keep fit or learn a new skill, there is something for everyone. It features activities for people at any stage of life. Some of the most popular activities are swimming and skating lessons, but there are so many more opportunities available.
“A new edition is released several times a year and includes fun for the entire family,” said Jennifer Sarna, the City’s Manager of Recreation Services.
We invite you to explore the Leisure Guide and find something new to try for the first time.
If you’re looking to get active, consider one of the many fitness classes. Looking to keep the kids busy? There are plenty of sports and activities to choose from. If you’re looking for something a little different, try learning a new language or a creative art like beading or pottery.
You can register for activities online, by phone, or in person.
“We know many courses are in high demand,” said Sarna.
Our advice is to plan ahead and be ready to sign up as soon as registration opens.
Plan ahead
These tips and tricks will make registration day easier for you.
- Choose your activities: Browse through the latest Leisure Guide to find activities that interest you and your family. It’s also a good idea to find alternate choices, in case your first choice is full. Remember to write down the course numbers and keep them handy!
- Create an account: Whether you plan to register online, in person, or by phone, you will need a leisureONLINE account. Creating an account in advance will save valuable time on registration day. Watch our video tutorials to help you create your account, add family members, search for activities, register, and more! Our leisureONLINE help page also answers many commonly asked questions.
- Log in to your existing account: If you already have an account, log in and make sure all your information is up to date, and any family members you are registering are added. Pro tip! Add your favourite activities to your wish list for easy access on registration day.
- Review our terms and conditions: Make sure you understand our policies for transfers, withdrawals, cancellations, and refund eligibility.
- Subscribe to leisureNEWS: Receive updates and information, right to your inbox!
On registration day
Be sure to register early to avoid disappointment.
- Log in early: If you’re registering online, log into your account before registration opens—you’ll have one fewer step to complete once registration begins.
- Be prepared for a queue: Due to the high volume of customers, you may be placed in a queue with an estimated wait time. You will be redirected to leisureONLINE when it is your turn. Do not refresh or navigate off this page, as you may lose your place in line. If you are having difficulty accessing your account, call 311.
- Have your course codes and payment handy: If you’re registering online, navigate to the activity you would like to register for or head to your wish list before registration opens.
- Use the waitlist: If the activity you want is full, we encourage you to put your name on the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, we will email you.
“The waitlist is important so we can see where the demands are,” explained Sarna on a recent episode of Our City, Our Podcast. “It helps guide some of the decisions we make to add new classes.”
Check back often
If you didn’t get into the class you wanted, continue checking leisureONLINE, even after registration day, as additional classes may be added.
“We're committed to continuing to offer as much as we can,” said Sarna.
