Preliminary City Budget Update to be Released on December 11th

The Preliminary 2025 Update to the 2024-27 Multi-Year Balanced Budget for the City of Winnipeg will be tabled at a special meeting of the Executive Policy Committee on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Following a 33-day period for all City Councillors and the public to review the preliminary budget update, public meetings to hear delegations and consider changes will take place on the following dates:

  • Monday, January 13, 2025: SPC on Property and Development
  • Tuesday, January 14, 2025: SPC on Water, Waste, and Environment
  • Wednesday, January 15, 2025: SPC on Community Services
  • Thursday, January 16, 2025: SPC on Public Works
  • Friday, January 17, 2025: SPC on Finance and Economic Development
  • Date TBA: Winnipeg Police Board

Subsequent Executive Policy Committee (EPC) meetings related to the budget will be held as follows:

  • Tuesday, January 21, 2025: EPC budget presentations
  • Wednesday, January 22, 2025: EPC budget delegations
  • Friday, January 24, 2025: EPC final budget recommendations

Finally, the 2025 Update will be considered by Council on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

“As Winnipeg continues to grow, it’s vital we enhance and expand services to meet the needs of our community,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “This preliminary budget update will focus on delivering improvements in areas like public safety and transportation —key priorities for our residents. We also recognize that meeting these goals requires strong partnerships, and we’re looking for support from our provincial and federal partners as we invest in a stronger future for Winnipeg.”
