Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Transit Plus is launching a new, improved trip-booking system with self-service options on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

“I am thrilled to usher in this new era for Winnipeg Transit Plus customers,” said Janice Lukes, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Public Works. “We heard your calls for a more accessible, efficient, and reliable service, and we’re proud to finally say that we can now deliver that to customers.”

This cutting-edge system will ensure Winnipeg Transit Plus delivers a barrier-free service to its customers, which includes offering more options when booking and paying for trips. Canadian company Spare Labs Inc., a leader in modernizing paratransit operations around the world, developed this advanced system.

At Transit Plus, we are so excited to launch this innovative system for our valued customers,” said Teresa Platt, Manager of Client Services. “These changes will remove barriers and enhance accessibility for everyone. This will mean shorter wait times and more options for customers to choose how it best works for them to access our service.”

Tomorrow, Winnipeg Transit Plus customers will have access to a variety of exciting new features when using the service, including:

Winnipeg Transit Plus is also launching a smartphone and web app. The Winnipeg Transit+ On-Request trip-booking app will be available, initially, to a pre-determined group of early adopters. All customers will have access to the app starting Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

Winnipeg Transit Plus staff and drivers will benefit from these changes through improved route planning and increased vehicle ride sharing. Customer service representatives will also be able to deliver quicker responses.

Transit Plus is hosting two information sessions in advance of the app launch. Registration for both sessions is required. Customers can join in-person or virtually on:

Winnipeg Transit On-Request will be permanently joining Spare Labs’ system later in 2024. It has operated as a pilot project since 2021.
