Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to structure fire on Manitoba Avenue

Released: June 5, 2023 at 8 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:54 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from the inside until conditions forced them to change tactics and fight the fire from the outside. Crews declared the fire under control at 4:02 a.m.

No injuries were reported. Due to the structural impacts of the fire, the WFPS initiated an emergency demolition for the house. The demolition is expected to begin later today.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house is a total loss.
