Winnipeg, MB – At 11:34 a.m. on December 24, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in vacant, two-storey house in the 600 block of Sargent Avenue.
At the scene, crews found smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the house and the fire was under control at 11:59 a.m.
Firefighters searched the house to ensure there was no one inside. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Roads have re-opened but residents are asked to still exercise caution in the area as water used to fight the fire has frozen and created slippery conditions. The City will be monitoring conditions and applying sand and de-icing agents to roadways and sidewalks as required to improve traction.
