Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on College Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:38 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a garage fire in the 300 block of College Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the garage fully-engulfed in smoke and flames with the fire spreading to the adjacent two-and-a-half storey house which was vacant. Crews launched an offensive attack, and declared the fire in both structures under control at 6:25 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the garage and house and no occupants were found. Residents of a neighbouring home were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
