Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on William Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:12 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-and-a-half-storey structure in the 500 block of William Avenue.

Once on-scene, crews found a well-involved fire throughout the building. Due to safety concerns, they launched a defensive attack using an aerial ladder as a water tower. Occupants of neighbouring properties were advised by crews to shelter in place. The fire was declared under control at 7:10 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

While no damage estimates are available, the building suffered major structural damage, and was damaged by previous fire activity. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
