Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Bannatyne Avenue West

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:43 a.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey house in the 1500 block of Bannatyne Avenue West.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found smoke showing from the building. Firefighters launched an offensive attack and quickly knocked down the fire by 5 a.m.

Crews rescued one occupant from the building, who was treated on-scene by paramedics and taken to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Crews also located one cat on-scene and the City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency was called for assistance.

The building suffered minor smoke and fire damage to a portion of the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
