Winnipeg, MB – At 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a bungalow in the 1400 block of Loudoun Road.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered a well-involved fire, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Crews launched a defensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 7:39 a.m. As the home is located outside the City of Winnipeg water district, WFPS water tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. The City’s Emergency Social Services was engaged to assist the residents in finding temporary accommodations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time. The house suffered extensive fire, smoke, and water damage.

Crews are expected to remain at the scene into this afternoon as they work to extinguish all hot spots. Local traffic impacts will remain in effect until their work is complete.
