Winnipeg, MB – Today, Mayor Brian Bowman announced Councillor Jeff Browaty as the new Chairperson for the Standing Policy Committee on Finance and Councillor Markus Chambers as the new Chairperson for the Standing Policy Committee on Innovation and Economic Development.
“After yesterday’s resignation of Councillor Scott Gillingham, I am pleased to announce role changes for Councillor Jeff Browaty and Councillor Markus Chambers,” said Mayor Bowman. “With today’s announcement, I would like to thank both Councillors for agreeing to take on more responsibility in their service to Winnipeggers. I would also like to welcome Councillor Chambers to Executive Policy Committee.”
Both appointments are effective immediately. Councillor Browaty will be working diligently in preparation for next week’s meeting of the Standing Policy Committee on Finance. In this regard, Councillor Gillingham has offered to work collaboratively with Councillor Browaty to assist with the transition and preparation for the upcoming meeting.
“I would like to thank Councillor Gillingham for his steady and collaborative approach as Chair of Finance over the past five years,” said Mayor Bowman. “His efforts have been especially appreciated during the global pandemic and in establishing Winnipeg’s first ever multi-year balanced budget process.”
