Point Douglas Avenue warehouse fire

At approximately 9:54 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022 WFPS crews responded to reports of smoke coming from a vacant warehouse in the 0-100 block of Point Douglas Avenue.

Arriving crews launched an offensive fire attack to quickly extinguish the fire in the structure; however, crews remained on scene for an extended period of time to extinguish hot spots thereafter. The fire was declared under control at approximately 11:21 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no damage estimates are available at this time.

There have been a number of fires at this property, including in September 2021 when a large structure was destroyed by fire, and in February 2022 when an additional structure caught fire.

Manitou Bay house fire

At approximately 5:25 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a bi-level house in the 0-100 block of Manitou Bay.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Crews initially launched an offensive fire attack, but were forced to switch to a defensive attack as the home’s structural integrity was compromised. The fire was declared under control at approximately 7:03 a.m.

There were no occupants in the house at the time of the fire, and no injuries are being reported at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available; however, the house is expected to be a complete loss.
