Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 5:51 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one-and-a-half storey house in the 600 block of Victor Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered heavy smoke billowing from the structure. Crews launched an offensive fire attack, declaring the fire under control at approximately 6:35 p.m.

Occupants of neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution and have since returned to their homes.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.

Victor Street, between Sargent Avenue and Wellington Avenue, was closed to facilitate operations. It’s anticipated that the road will reopen later this evening as crews depart the scene.
