Update: Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Turnbull Drive

Released: March 25, 2022 at 3:55 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – As reported earlier today, at 4:53 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 100 block of Turnbull Drive. Due to safety concerns, crews were not able to access the fire offensively and launched a defensive attack using an aerial ladder and hand lines.

During fire operations this morning, the home collapsed into the basement of the building, with some extension of debris into the driveway. Crews continued to drown out the remaining fire using an aerial ladder as a water tower. Water tankers rotated in and out of the scene to supply water to operations.

The fire was declared under control at 8:08 a.m.

No injuries have been reported.

Crews remain on-scene to address hotspots and road closures remain in effect.

The home is considered a total loss.

WFPS thanks the Richot Fire Department and other partners for their assistance at this incident.
