Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Langside Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:38 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to multiple reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 0 to 100 block of Langside Street.

Once on-scene, crews encountered smoke and flames coming from a suite in the building. They launched an offensive attack, containing the fire to the suite of origin and declared the fire under control at 9:50 p.m..

A number of occupants were evacuated and temporarily provided shelter aboard a Winnipeg Transit bus that was deployed to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Crews located multiple animals on-scene and reunited them with their owners.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services was called to support 12 residents in finding temporary accommodations.

The suite of origin suffered major fire damage, with smoke and water damage spreading to adjacent suites. No damage estimates are available at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
