Winnipeg, MB – At 9:49 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey, single-family residential house in the 500 block of Simcoe Street.
Once on-scene, crews encountered moderate to heavy smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 10:18 a.m.
All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported.
Crews located two dogs on-scene and the City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services department was called for assistance.
The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services was called to assist six residents in finding temporary accommodations.
The house suffered extensive fire, smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
