Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Ruby Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half-storey, single-family house in the 100 block of Ruby Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered fire and smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:36 p.m. A fire watch was established to monitor and address any hot spots throughout the night.

Three occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported.

One cat was located on-scene that had succumbed to fire-related injuries.

While no damage estimates are available at this time, the home sustained major damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
