Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Burrows Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:37 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, multi-family house in the 500 block of Burrows Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, bringing the fire under control at 6:01 a.m.

One occupant self-evacuated prior to crew arrival, while two additional occupants were evacuated by crews on-scene.

One occupant was treated on scene by paramedics and taken to hospital in unstable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Crews also located and safely removed two cats from the building.

Damage was contained to the suite of origin. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
