Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Hargrave Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:39 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a high-rise apartment building in the 100 block of Hargrave Street.

Due to the potential for high life hazards when dealing with a high-rise structure, a second alarm was called which increased the number apparatus on scene. When crews arrived, they found the flames and smoke coming from the building. An offensive attack was launched. The fire was declared under control at 7:09 p.m. and was contained to the suite of origin.

Some occupants of the building were temporarily evacuated and others were able to shelter in place while crews extinguished the fire. One resident was assessed by on-scene paramedics and transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
