Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires this morning.
Stewart Street Fire
At 10:30 a.m. on July 8, 2021, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey duplex in the 800 block of Stewart Street.
When crews arrived on scene they encountered smoke coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 10:56 a.m.
All occupants of the duplex safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Blake Street Fire
At 11:52 a.m. WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey, walk-up apartment block in the 300 block of Blake Street.
Upon arrival on scene crews found smoke coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 12:10 p.m.
Most occupants of the building safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. Crews located and brought two individuals to safety. Another two individuals received injuries while self-evacuating. On-scene paramedics transported a total of three patients to hospital – two in unstable condition and one in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
