Released: July 7, 2021 at 2:07 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is reopening select fitness centres and indoor pools at reduced capacity, and resuming limited indoor programming at these facilities on Monday, July 12, 2021, in accordance with provincial public health guidelines.

The following facilities will open on July 12:

  • Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex (including the indoor pool)
  • Fort Rouge Leisure Centre
  • Freight House Recreation Centre
  • Pan Am (including the indoor pool)
  • Peguis Trail Health & Fitness Centre
  • St. James Assiniboia Centennial
  • Sergeant Tommy Prince Place

Service at indoor fitness centres is limited. Service at indoor pools is currently limited to lane swimming, aquatic fitness classes, public swim, and aquatic sports groups.

Residents are encouraged to book swim and fitness time blocks prior to arriving, as there is no guarantee of available blocks for registration upon arrival, due to capacity restrictions. Blocks will be offered on a week-by-week basis and reservations can be made up to 10 p.m. the day before the pre-reserved time (space permitting). Every Thursday, another week of swim and fitness blocks will be added to what’s available for registration.

Register at leisureONLINE to reserve an available block, or contact 311 for assistance with registering. Residents can also register on-site for available blocks.

A new or current leisureONLINE account is required to reserve a block online. Video tutorials are available on how to create an account and how to register for an activity. Admission/registration fees will apply when booking your time.

Customers will be asked to use the self-assessment symptom checklist at the time of pre-booking, and before entering the facilities. Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter. Visitors to our facilities will be required to provide contact information upon entry in the event that contact tracing is required by Public Health.

Capacity at indoor pools and fitness centres is limited to 25 percent in accordance with provincial public health orders, and to ensure physical distancing guidelines are maintained. Pools and fitness areas will be closed to the public between the admission blocks to sanitize and allow a reasonable time for customers to vacate the facility prior to the next scheduled block.

Access to lockers and change rooms/showers will be limited. Please come dressed to swim and ready to use the fitness amenities.
