Winnipeg, MB – At 6:06 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey home in the 1900 block of Elgin Avenue West.
When crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke was coming from the home. Crews launched a defensive attack, using aerial ladders. The fire was declared under control at 6:52 p.m.
No injuries were reported. Crews rescued two dogs from the home. The City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services response team was deployed to the scene to assist with the dogs, which have since been reunited with their owner.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
