Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to two overnight fires

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two overnight fires.

Hargrave Street

At 10:19 p.m. on April 19, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire at a high-rise building in the 0-100 block of Hargrave Street.

When crews arrived, there were smoke and flames coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 11:51 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Transit provided a bus for temporary shelter while WFPS was on scene. Most occupants were able to return to their suites once WFPS completed their work on scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Selkirk Avenue

At 2:42 a.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey home in the 900 block of Selkirk Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, flames and smoke were coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:37 a.m.

Crews searched the home and no occupants were inside. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
