Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to injured individual on Girton Boulevard

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:41 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of an injured individual incapacitated at a construction site in the 100 block of Girton Boulevard.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the injured construction worker at the bottom of the excavated site. The Technical Rescue Task Force secured the patient into a rescue basket and used a rope system anchored to a WFPS aerial ladder truck to hoist the patient from the site.

The patient was assessed and treated by on-scene paramedics and then transported to hospital in stable condition.

The incident will be investigated by Manitoba Workplace Health and Safety.
