Negotiated agreement with WAPSO recommended for approval

Winnipeg, MB – The Executive Policy Committee (EPC) will consider the ratification of a negotiated agreement between the City of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Association of Public Service Officers (WAPSO) at its meeting on October 20, 2020.

The Memorandum of Agreement reached between the City and WAPSO is a 48-month term from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023, and includes general wage adjustments of 0.5 percent in July 2021, 0.5 percent in January 2022, 1.0 percent in August 2022, 0.75 percent in January 2023, and 1.25 percent in August 2023.

Additional changes include:

  • Members of the bargaining unit will receive a $500 signing bonus in January 2021
  • Allowances for safety footwear will increase to $140 effective January 1, 2022
  • Interest arbitration provisions will be reintroduced in the event that the parties reach an impasse during the next round of collective bargaining

Subject to EPC’s approval of the Memorandum of Agreement, it would then go to Council for approval.
