Winnipeg, MB – At 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a gas leak in the 300 block of Lindenwood Drive West.
When crews arrived on scene, they recorded high levels of natural gas in the vicinity of the leak, near an area under construction. WFPS crews evacuated seven nearby homes. Manitoba Hydro attended the scene to stop the leak and ensure the surrounding area was safe to re-enter.
A Winnipeg Transit bus was deployed to the scene to provide shelter for evacuated residents. All residents have been able to return to their homes. No injuries were reported.
Coulter Avenue
At 3:47 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a gas leak in the 1000 block of Coulter Avenue. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered high levels of natural gas in the area of the leak, which was caused by a City of Winnipeg excavation crew. WFPS crews evacuated nearby commercial buildings and Manitoba Hydro crews safely ventilated the gas into the atmosphere.
No injuries were reported.
