Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Day Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:36 p.m. on July 19, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in convenience store in the 1300 block of Day Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews located a small fire and quickly brought it under control.

Occupants of the building safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. Manitoba Public Health Inspectors attended the scene to determine if food products in the store were contaminated due to the smoke and fire.

It is believed the fire was accidental, caused by electrical wiring malfunction. No damage estimates are available.
