On-street parking rates to decrease by $0.75 beginning July 1

PayByPhone customers will be first to pay new rates while paystations are updated

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg will implement the on-street paid parking price reduction of $0.75 per hour over the next six to eight weeks, beginning July 1, 2020.

On-street parking is an important service for Winnipeg’s residents, visitors, hospitals, and businesses. This change is expected to increase overall demand for on-street paid parking and would better align Winnipeg’s average rate with those of comparably-sized cities across Canada.

“Lowering on-street parking rates across the city is one of the key actions we’re taking to help benefit businesses, hospitals, residents, and visitors,” said Matt Allard, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works. “I’m pleased that we can implement this rate reduction now, while we continue to work with all stakeholders on a progressive plan for parking in Winnipeg.”

PayByPhone customers will pay the new rates effective July 1, 2020. Paystations will continue to charge the old rates until they have been updated. Updated paystations will display a sticker to advise the rate reduction has been completed, and will be listed daily online.

Existing Scratch N’ Park Meter Passes will continue to be honoured for hourly parking. New passes will be available for purchase or exchange at a later date.
