Winnipeg, MB – At 8:11 a.m. on June 19, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey house in the 500 block of Alfred Avenue. When crews arrived to the address they encountered thick smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 8:24 a.m.
There were no occupants in the house at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are currently available.
At 2:48 a.m. on June 19, 2020, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey multi-family house in the 500 block of William Avenue. When crews arrived to the address they encountered thick smoke and flames coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 4:09 a.m. The Winnipeg Police Service’s Air1 helicopter assisted the Incident Commander in providing situational awareness from above.
Occupants of the house self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. Neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. Those residents were able to return to their homes after crews completed their work on scene. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are currently available.
At 10:41 p.m. on June 18, 2020, WFPS responded to reports of a vehicle on fire in the 700 block of College Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, the fire had spread to the adjacent garage and fence. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was quickly brought under control.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no damage estimates are currently available.
